Feeding Children Everywhere partners with Gateway Community Outreach

Abbie and Monica Valcave are no strangers to Gateway Community Outreach, we always look forward to their partnership during our  holiday special touch events.  http://www.GCOFlorida.org/Donate
The holiday season has ended, however, that is not stopping the Valcave’s from volunteering their time and nominating Gateway Community Outreach for two years in a row, to receive 30 boxes of dried non perishable food from Feeding Children Everywhere  http://www.FeedingChildrenEverywhere.ogr to feed the children here in South Florida. Way to go Abbie and Monica!  Thank you

Many families are one paycheck away from being hungry or experiencing homelessness.

It only takes the loss of a job, an injury, prolonged illness, unexpected expenses or a fire, to create an economic downturn for a family barely “getting by.”

Most families experiencing these circumstances, within a few months, will go through hunger, an eviction or foreclosure and are at risk of being homeless. This is where Gateway Community Outreach steps in to restore self-sufficiency.

Facts

In 2015, there were over 43.1 million people living in poverty at a rate of 13.5 percent of which 7.8 percent are children who are experiencing hunger regularly, facing bare cupboards and refrigerators wondering where their next meal will come from.

Here in South Florida, over 1 million residence (296,600 children) does not know where their next meal is coming from. A whopping 29 percent of these residences doesn’t qualify for federal nutrition programs and is forced to rely on non-profits such as Gateway Community Outreach to meet their needs.
