Many families are one paycheck away from experiencing homelessness. It only takes the loss of a job, an injury, prolonged illness, unexpected expenses, or a fire to create an economic downturn for a family barely getting by. Most families experiencing these circumstances, within a few months, will go through hunger, experience an eviction or foreclosure, and are at risk of being homeless.

Gateway Community Outreach steps in to provide the assistance needed to prevent homelessness and restore self-sufficiency.

Researchers from the University of Oregon investigated the audience of real money slots online and casinos, remarkably, but in the course of the study, the scientists concluded that the stereotypes in society are incorrectly constructed. Project leader Sandy Chen believes that players can be divided into four groups:

1. The first group is players who play just for fun, they don’t aim to “make a mess”, they just enjoy the game. According to their data, they are wealthy people with considerable wealth who are looking for new adventures and sensations.

2. The second group are players who avoid jackpots and slot machines with high payouts. According to scientists, they behave this way because they enjoy playing with the fact of winning, regardless of the amount. Slots with jackpots and big payouts give winning combinations less often.

The third group is the players who enjoy both the game and the winnings. As observations have shown, they choose completely different slots with different winnings and stories. Scientists believe that these players are willing to prefer new slots even good winnings, it is important for them to feel the game and enjoy it.
4. The fourth group is the players who want to just distract themselves. According to some reports, these people are those who are subject to stress and negative emotions throughout the working day, and playing slot machines, they thus relieve the nervous tension accumulated during the day. Most often, players in this group do not like to play alone, they prefer to play with friends and acquaintances.

As we can see, a very common view that the slot machines are played by people with income below average to get easy money, not confirmed. Also, a very unexpected discovery was that the slots are chosen mainly by women (up to 60% of the audience) aged 55-60 years, who earn more than 55,000 dollars.
Casino – the best online casino today, experts came to this conclusion after surveying casino players on the Internet. Players note not only the abundance of new and favorite slots, as well as high-quality graphics, a high percentage of winnings, and a large number of additional bonuses and incentives from casinos. Join the gamblers, play, and win!

GCO provides solutions to prevent homelessness. Especially to those families with children who are trying to recover from an economic downturn. Some examples are the loss of a job, an emergency, an illness, and a loss in the family.
Our success utilizes a case management system. That consists of a 90-day plan to connect clients with services and referrals. Such as food, baby needs, gift cards for clothing, rent/mortgage, and water bill assistance.
In addition to food distribution and direct services, GCO collaborates with 80 other agencies that provide a full spectrum of community services to meet additional and long-term needs.
Other partners are local churches in Broward County. All our sites are in low-income neighborhoods to allow clients easy access to our services.

Proud Moment

We are pleased to share that Carol A. Ray was selected as the recipient of the 2022 David Eller Humanitarian Award on March 12th at an event sponsored by Kiwanis and the City of Deerfield Beach. We are very privileged to receive this award because it puts a spotlight on Gateway and demonstrates the positive impact that our organization has had on our community through the years and for years to come.
